COSTA RICA BED AND BREAKFAST
Costa Rica's Bed & Breakfast are probably the best in the world. Where else can you travel a country and on each day/night spend it either in the city, on some ecology preserve, on the beach, overlooking a green jungle, meet interesting travelers and have a local breakfast without the crowds of a large hotel. Most of Costa Rica's B & Bs are 3-6 rooms. Costs can be from $10-$120, it all depends on where the B&B is located. All do have breakfast, however some do change a few extra for dinner. Hotels offer anonymity, while Costa Rica's bed and breakfasts are for people who want to interact with others or who, while maintaining their privacy, are willing to give up anonymity for the additional comforts offered in a home setting. Most of the B&Bs the owners speak English, however, in some of the isolated areas, they do not or very little.
Generally, guests are accommodated in small bedrooms and a community bathroom. Private bathrooms are the luxury in some of the B&Bs. Most of Costa Rica's B&Bs were large house or a small hotel that was converted. Many are owned by retired American couples. Breakfast is served in the morning - either in the bedroom or, more commonly, in a dining room, on a terrace or sun porch or the host's kitchen with eye-stunning views or tranquil surroundings.
