CIMA Hospital in Costa RicaCOSTA RICA HOSPITALS
Costa Rica is well known for providing world-class hospitals. Even if they are somewhat limited to the San Jose area are very experienced medical professionals are complemented by those who find themselves in need of medical attention.  Aftercare facilities are available that cater specifically to  outpatients. Normally these services together are very expensive but low overhead makes hospitals  thousands of dollars cheaper - so you can pay your own vacation and get the best medical attention available if somehow you end up in one. Dialing 911 in Costa Rica works very well for the most part.

Clinica Biblica (avenida 14, calles central & 1, tel. 223-6422) also has a 24-hour pharmacy. Costa Rica's Social Security system (the Caja) offers a medical insurance assistance program for foreigners needing emergency medical assistance. It is recommened that you buy coverage at many travel agencies, language schools or through tour companies.
